Some animations

Hi everybody,
It has been a little bit complicated for me to break the ice and start to blog over here, as it has been also difficult to find extra time to do so. I remember last year I told myself "I will do it", but somehow, sometimes, studying and working at the same time are activities not easy to combine... so the time passes, and suddenly you realise that you did not have that extra time you needed. Anyway, let's see if this year I can actually keep up with this and share the evolution of my efforts. ;)
This is a new page where I plan to start to post the animations I have made so far. I still want to polish some of them, the basic exercises we did to practice the basic principles of animation, in order to create my Show Reel, but on the mean time, I have to start to show something anyway... so... here I go. Thanks for watching.  ;)

...and because I want to play with different soundtracks sometimes... you can check other versions here...

A walking cycle with a mood change...

A exercise about facial expressions where I actually included some body language...

A exercise about acting...
and a version with a different soundtrack..

I wanted to include a sample of Lip Sync, but I am still working on them to improve what I did at my MA Character Animation at Central Saint Martins. On the mean time I can show this one that I did over this summer time, under the supervision of my class mate Steffen Vala, as a freelance project.

This one is a piece we produced in a group of 4 students, please check the credits on the video... for the London Transport Museum. My contribution in terms of animation was the first 14 seconds of animation, animating the train, the 3 men, and simulating the cloud of dust blowed by the wind.

And this was my final project for the first year of the master I took at Central Saint Martins, an animation for the Royal Shakespeare Company. I tried to extend my role as director of my own project by getting involved also on the creation of the soundtrack, so I tried to suggest ideas and work with the musician in person, Cesar Almonacid, in order to create an atmosphere that could help to the narrative of my story. It was a fun process and I am currently considering to get involved also with sound edition to complement my animations.
..and this is the other version I produced with a different soundtrack, also suggesting my ideas about instruments and the feeling I wanted to create through a tango, this time, in collaboration with Richard Ford, a composer at the Royal College of Music.
Entry for the 10th February 2013
All good things have an end. Joanna Quinn left breaking hearts, or filling them with pure "respect", but definitely leaving us to wanting more. One of my favourite workshops ever during this master.
This is the rough line test result of this workshop:
Consequences of her visit: I am again inspired, and probably in love again with animation. Specially good 2D animation.
A reflexion time well spent in the streets of Soho, brainstorming and sketching this evening like a true bohemian before coming home and having a healthy nap that brought to my mind the conversations I had with her during the last 2 days.
That is what I call a truly inspirational artist.
So long. ;)
Entry on 13th June 2013, the final project of my MA Character Animation is here. Still there is room for improvement in terms of the animation ( I will come back to add more dynamic animation later), but I think it works in terms of storytelling.
This week I wanted to make an effort to produce a decent promotional image that suits my final project, so I create an extra piece of animation to include in the final movie, the intro with the tittle. I had to create basically two different backgrounds and make a transition between them and this is the result.

And this the final animation after adding the new intro for the main tittle of the animated graphic novel, hope you like it. ;)
